Vivaqua is one of Belgium’s leading water producers, principally supplying water to intermunicipal authorities and communes. In Brussels, the company is also entrusted with the operation of their water distribution network.
HYDROBRU, the Brussels intermunicipal authority for distribution of water, manages the supply of water to individual premises in the 19 municipalities of the Brussels Region. Every three months, a fixed amount is invoiced according to your consumption. Once a year, you will receive the final invoice. Either you will have extra to pay, or you’ll receive a reimbursement. Do make sure the utilities are connected a few days before you move in.

• If the accommodation is new or has been left empty and the metre is stopped, a visit from an agent of the HYDROBRU is necessary. In this case, remember to ensure that all bills have been settled by the previous occupants, and to ask where the metres are! Make an appointment at least 15 days ahead of time for your connection. The cost of the visit will be charged, and you will need to show proof of your identity.
• Usually, you will only need to fill in a form known as the ‘relevé contradictoire’, which is available from the HYDROBRU’s website. It will be up to you to get the metre read and to enter the figures on the form. It will need to be signed by you AND by the previous tenant or the landlord. These two signatures will serve to guarantee the metre reading at which time the water consumed will be charged to you.

In Brussels, a single company manages the supply of water to individual premises.

Permanently, day after day, and throughout its route, water is controlled by a laboratory certified and agreed by VIVAQUA.  You can drink it with confidence.
