The municipality is densely populated, multicultural, young and dynamic.

There are three places to discover : la Maison des Cultures, la Fonderie (musée des industries et du travail) and the Château du Karreveld, where the Belgian cinema took its first steps and where many theatre plays take place in the outdoors in summer during the “festival Bruxellons”.

The Chaussée de Gand offers many commercial brands.

Among the several parks in the municipality, that of Scheutbos stands out. With its 6 hectares, it is a recreational as well as an ecological park. Apart from these qualities, it is connected to the site of Scheutbos, itself spreading over an area of 50 hectares.

The metro lines 1, 2, 5 and 6 connects the municipality.

Housing is very reasonable in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, to buy as well as to rent (the municipality is developing considerable social housing accommodation). The working-class population confirms this.
