Going out in Brussels

"There will be a number of sanitary conditions to be met for each stage"

From June 9

An important first step will be taken. 8 out of 10 vulnerable people will have been vaccinated. "This will allow us to initiate a series of things," said De Croo:

  • The general wearing of the mask outside has been lifted in the Brussels-Capital region. The municipalities decide for themselves the places where the mask remains obligatory. It depends on the attendance. In enclosed places, such as public transport and shops, it remains compulsory.
  • Each household will be able to receive four people inside each day (children not included)
  • The Horeca sector may reopen indoors (until  23h30)
  • The terraces may remain open until 23h:30.
  • In terms of teleworking, there will be a little more leeway: we can organize one day per week of face-to-face return to the workplace.
  • Family shopping is permitted with no time restriction. It is also authorized for two people who are not part of the same household.
  • Events (e.g. cultural performances, shows or sports competitions) can take place: indoors (up to 200 people or 75% of the capacity of the hall, seated audience, wearing a mask and respecting the distances of safety) and outdoors (up to 400 people, wearing a mask and respecting safety distances)
  • Non-professional sports practice: up to 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors (except contact sports)
  • Youth activities and camps and community life: up to 50 people, without overnight stay. Pre-testing is very strongly recommended
  • Parties and receptions: up to 50 people inside. For the rest, the rules set for Horeca apply
  • Worship services, weddings and funerals: up to 100 people indoors and 200 people outdoors. If the capacity of the room allows, the rules set for events apply.
  • The fitness rooms reopen with protocols relating to ventilation and the mandatory use of an air quality measuring device in a visible location.
  • Saunas, Jacuzzis, hammams and public steam baths can reopen.
  • Cinemas, bowling alleys, arcades, casinos, betting agencies reopen with ventilation protocols. The same goes for indoor activities in natural parks, animal parks, indoor playgrounds, indoor leisure facilities, tropical swimming pools, casinos, betting companies, arcades, solariums and bowling alleys.
  • Door-to-door sales are again authorized,
  • Sex workers can resume their activities.
  • Events of up to 100 people, according to a pre-defined route, are authorized.

Pendinf decision

  • Fairs, flea markets and non-professional flea markets are allowed again. The organization follows the principles set for the markets.

1st of July

If six in ten adults have received their first dose of vaccine and if there is a favorable trend in hospitalizations, with an indicative threshold of 500 beds occupied in intensive care by covid patients, the following flexibilities will be implemented:

  • Teleworking is no longer mandatory but remains recommended, as is regular testing.
  • End of shopping restrictions.
  • Unprofessional practice of sport without restriction.
  • Events (e.g. cultural performances, shows or sports competitions) can take place: Indoors (up to 2000 people or 80% of the room's capacity (CIRM), seated audience, wearing a mask and compliance with safety distances) and outdoors (up to 2,500 people, wearing a mask and respecting safety distances)
  • Youth activities and camps and community life: up to 100 people, with overnight stay. Pre-testing is very strongly recommended.
  • Worship services, weddings and funerals: up to 200 people indoors or 400 people outdoors.
  • Parties and receptions for up to 100 people inside. Externally, the rules set for Horeca apply.

July 30

If seven in ten adults have received their first dose of vaccine and if there is a favorable trend in hospitalizations, with an indicative threshold of 500 beds occupied in intensive care by covid patients. Here are the relaxations that may take place if the conditions are met:

  • Events (e.g. cultural performances, shows or sports competitions) can take place: indoors (up to 3,000 people or 100% of the room's capacity (CIRM), with masks worn and respect for distances security) and outside (up to 5,000 people. From August 13, mass events are allowed outside on presentation of proof of vaccination or a recent negative PCR test). This device already has a name, which we are talking about here.
  • Trade fairs are permitted, subject to the rules set for other companies providing goods and services
  • Parties and receptions for up to 250 people inside. Otherwise, the rules set for Horeca apply.
  • Youth activities and camps and community life: up to 200 people, with overnight stay. Pre-testing is very strongly recommended.

"The aim is to do away with the measures so 2hat a new school year can start and so that we can once again have a fulfilling social life", continued Alexander De Croo. But there are always conditions to be met. Seven out of ten adults should be vaccinated and there should be a favorable trend in hospitalizations, with an indicative threshold of 500 beds occupied in intensive care by covid patients.

  • Events (cultural performances, shows or sports competitions) can take place: indoors (to be determined). and outside (to be determined). Mass events both indoors and outdoors are permitted upon presentation of proof of vaccination or recent negative PCR test
  • Youth activities and camps and community life: unrestricted. Pre-testing is very strongly recommended.
  • Unrestricted worship services, weddings and funerals.
  • Unrestricted parties and receptions indoors. Otherwise, the rules set for Horeca apply.
  • Markets, fairs, flea markets and non-professional flea markets and unrestricted flea markets.
