The BCT was formed in 1978 as a volunteer-run not-for-profit social and support network for families and parents-to-be offering pre-and postnatal services and a wide variety of activities and parenting resources in English. With its 800 member families, representing more than 70 nationalities, it is one of the largest international family communities in Belgium.

Services provided range from Pregnancy in Belgium information evenings and birth preparation courses to pre- and postnatal yoga, mum-and-baby meet-ups, postnatal early days and breastfeeding peer-to-peer support, baby massage and First Aid for Parents classes.

The BCT's local, interest and support groups operate across and beyond Brussels. Their members organise a wealth of socialising opportunities such as weekly playgroups, coffee mornings, park playdates, quizz nights, working-mums' lunches and family events. Twice a year a second-hand sale for maternity and children items is being organised and a bi-monthly magazine features parenting and life in Belgium related news and articles.

Families in all stages of life are welcome, whether pregnant, with a baby or toddler or already school children, whether just arrived in Belgium or a long-term resident, full-time worker or stay-at-home carer.
