Muziekpublique: the heart of folk and world music and traditional dance in Brussels.

Muziekpublique is a non-profit organisation that specialises in folk and world music. Most of their concerts (about 100 per year) take place in the Théâtre Molière, a hall with 400 seats and very nice acoustics situated in Matonge, the African neighbourhood of Brussels.

Classics in the Muziekpublique programme are Living Room Music, a festival of concerts performed in private houses in Brussels, and the ‘Bal des Bals’, a festival of dance music uniting the European folk and the non-European world music scenes. In 2016 they've launched the Hide & Seek Festival, a festival in some of Brussel's most surprising and emblematic locations.

Since 2008, Muziekpublique is also a record label that supports and promotes professional artists living in Belgium.

In addition to concerts, they are an academy in 30 musical instruments (from bagpipe to doudouk) with the major Belgian world music artists such as Vardan Hovanissian, Anne Niepold, Piet Maris, Elias Bachoura, Osman Martins, Osvaldo Hernandez, Emre Gültekin, Wouter Vandenabeele, Voxtra, Mady Kouyate,…

Some of the bands that have played for Muziekpublique: Dino Saluzzi & Anja Lechner, Baaba Maal, Karim Baggili, Dobet Gnahore, Stimmhorn, Ranarim, Afel Bocoum, Riccardo Tesi, Kardes Türküler, Jaune Toujours, Martin Simpson, Habib Koite, Triakel, Kocani Orkestar, Mahala Rai Banda, Julie Murphy, Kala Ramnath, Ska Cubano, Didier Laloy, Kimmo Pohjonen, Régis Gizavo, Iva Bittova, Bellowhead...
